Masset is the largest and oldest community in the Queen Charlotte Islands. It
was incorporated in 1961 and has roughly 900 people. The village is located
on the beautiful northern coast of Graham Island and is bustling with fishing and tourism activity year-round. Every outdoors enthusiast will enjoy the bird watching, hiking trails and a growing surfing community. Masset has a fascinating history as part of the Canadian Military. The military base there originated from WWII, and has since seen a variety of different forms. From 1965 to 1995 there was a military base consisting of 280 soldiers on the island.
Each year Masset hosts the Harbour Days festival, a great community celebration that happens each year. The weekend includes a variety of activities, and brings many people together from the surrounding areas.
Northwest Community College was established originally in Terrace in 1975, but has since expanded into many communities, including Masset. NWCC specializes at training individuals to succeed in Northern communities and offers courses in business, health, arts programs, and trades. The Masset airport has daily flights to Vancouver. Masset Airport recently expanded, enabling the ariport to handle larger planes and also allow planes to handle more weight. There is also float plane docking site in Masset which has scheduled flights to Prince Rupert.
Masset is also located on highway 16, providing easy access to rest of the island. The Masset Industrial Park is readily available for companies looking to locate there. There are many advantages to investing in Masset, including coastal access and inexpensive land. Home to a deep history and a booming tourism industry, Masset is not only a great place to invest; it’s a great place to live.

- Sport Fishing Marina Upgrades
Masset continues to invest in upgrades to the community's Sports Fishing Marina in order to capitalize on the existing sports fishing industry and to help support the industry's growth in the region. So far, the project has seen the marina upgrade from a basic forty berth facility to having electricity and plug-ins for boats as well as lighting on the dock and parking area. Showing their commitment to the sports fishing industry, Masset continues to invest in the marina.
